Woodward John Co ‘06 is UAAP Rookie of the Year

Soft-spoken and gentle giant Woodward John Co once roamed the halls of Xavier School as its franchise player for its various Basketball Leagues. Co capped his senior year in Xavier by leading it to a 9-0 sweep of the 2006 Tiong Lian Championships and capturing MVP honors in the process. Co also scored a tournament-high 53 points in a game against UNO.

Markwin Tee ‘02 to Bowling World Cup

The prodigious Markwin Tee ‘02 is once again rewriting the annals of Xavier School’s sports history as he once again claims the limelight for his feat in the recently concluded 2006 Bowling World Cup national finals. Tee thus booked himself a ticket to the Qubica-AMF Bowling World Cup international finals on November 4-10 in Caracas, Venezuela. Tee now has the opportunity to join local sports heroes Paeng Nepumuceno and CJ Suarez as Filipino winners of the said tourney! Luceat Lux!

In celebration of the Golden Jubilee, Xavier School is formally opening the Sports Center to the public on 21 October 2006. Festivities for the day start with the “Dedication Rites” of the Fr. Rafael Cortina Sports Center at 3:00 PM. It is then followed by the launching of the coffee table book — Our Pride and Glory at the Function Room in the Mezzanine of Sports Center.

AAXS EXCOM Accompanies Fr. Zulo to HK

Last 15 September 2006, Xavier School Board of Trustees Chairman Fr. Ismael Zuloaga, S.J. and a group of Xavier alumni made quick visit to Hong Kong to help promote the establishment of an AAXS Overseas Chapter there. The group of alumnus was led by AAXS Pres. Jeffrey Siy ’80, AAXS VP for Alumni Involvement Jovito Ong ’68, AAXS VP for Special Project Hero Yu ’72, and AAXS Secretary Francis Bryan Ang ’92. Golden Jubilee Vice-Chairman Gary Garcia ’79 also accompanied that group.
