Searching for the Holy Grail via M&A
Sunday, June 17th, 2007Just as the 2006-2007 NBA Season concluded last Friday with the workman-like San Antonio Spurs winning their fourth diadem in the last nine years via the broom, the 2007 edition of the Xavier Alumni Basketball League (XABL) opens today (17 June 2007) with much promise and anticipation for a lot of teams. The main story line as usual is whether the Defending Champs for both Divisions I and II can repeat, and will the league be ultra competitive given the mergers and acquisitions that happened in the off season.
For PC Express ‘98, the loss of super import TY Tang might dampen their spirits a bit, but merging with remnants of Red Bull ’97 might be what it takes to repeat. The addition of Eldrige Liao, Jeremiah Tan and James Sy certainly provides PC Express a topnotch point guard, a bruising scoring machine, and the XABL’s version of Dikembe Mutombo in the shaded lane. They will be joined by mainstays Mark Yap, Joseph Co, Michael Go, Darwin Santos, Eric “The King Stallion” Yao, Mark Lim, Joe Silva, Henson Tan, Ian Tan, Bong Tan and Paolo Villavicencio. Not bad for a team looking to repeat after a scintillating season last year.
