Gilbert Teodoro Jr. is New DND Chief
Sunday, July 1st, 2007Gilberto Eduardo Gerardo Cojuangco Teodoro Jr. or Gilbert to his friends and peers has been named by Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as the new defense secretary effective Aug. 3. He will be replacing Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. who reassumed his previous post as public works chief.
He is the second civilian to be appointed by Mrs. Arroyo to head the Department of National Defense after Avelino Cruz who held the position from August 2004 to November 2006. Until that date National Security Adviser Norberto Gonzales serves as officer-in-charge of the Department of Defense.
