Xaverians Helping Fellow Xaverians
Attached is an email previously sent by AAXS Director for Database, Jun Suntay ‘72, to his batch. It explains in depth why the Tuition Free Project was conceptualized, and who are the intended beneficiaries.
At the end of the day, it is simply Xaverians Helping Fellow Xaverians. Who knows, you, your family, or someone you know will also be recipient of the said blessings. If we don’t look out for each other, who else will?
Have Pride! Be Proud to be a Xavier Alumni! Luceat Lux!

Fellow Dragons,
As you may have read already from the minutes of our recent foundation board meeting, we in the board have decided to pledge P100,000.00 in support of the AAXS Medical Assistance Program. And again, as mentioned, no money will come from either the general fund or the William Chua Fund of the Dragons.
Allow me now to make a short explanation as to why the Dragon’s board decided to make a pledge for P100,000.00.
The AAXS Medical Assistance Program (MAP) was established only about 3 months ago by the current board of the AAXS. The purpose of this program is to create a fund solely to assist Xavier alumni and faculty (past and present) in their time of medical need. Most of you may agree that we have reached a stage in our life where we see more friends or family members getting sick. Lucky for the sick if he or she has the money to cure the sickness. Unfortunately, not everyone we know is as “lucky” as some of us.
I need not mention the numerous times your Dragons Foundation turned down the request from some teachers over the passed few years simply because we do not know who they are. At least, now, we can refer them to the AAXS for medical assistance.
To date, the AAXS MAP has assisted 5 teachers. Four of them has cancer and one had a kidney transplant.
About the same time your Dragon’s board decided on the pledge, AAXS came out with the Tuition Free Raffle because funding for the MAP did not come in as expected.
Proceeds from the Tuition Free Raffle will go to the MAP and also to the Fr. Papilla Fund. This fund is a scholarship program of the AAXS wherein the AAXS will assist financially some “under privileged” graduates of Xavier School. As you may have heard, Xavier does have some students under scholarship. Scholars because they may not have enough money for school. Since they already do not have the funds for high school, how can they proceed to college? This is where the Fr. Papilla Fund comes in.
Putting two and two together, I decided to pledge the P100,000.00 in the form of buying (for resale to you) 200 tickets of the Tuition Free Raffle. Each ticket cost P500.00 only. The grand prize is the cost of the tuition fee plus misc. charges for any level in Xavier School for the school year 2008 – 2009. For high 3 or 4 alone, this amount would come up to a little over P100,000.00. There will also be some minor prizes to which I am not privy yet as of the moment.
In the event that you win in the raffle and presuming you do not have a son studying at XS, we can sell the prize at a discount but to the highest bidder. I can help you with this if ever someone wins from our batch.
Please help us fund the P100,000.00 by buying some tickets. Draw date for the raffle is April 16, 2008.
This is a good project. In a way, an off-shoot from our William Chua Fund.
Contact me asap.
